When to visit

The best time to travel along Thailand's entire Gulf of Thailand coast is from January to August. Unlike the Andaman coast on the west side of the mountains, the Gulf side avoids the heavy summer monsoon. Days are predominantly hot, sunny, and dry, making it ideal for island trips, coastal road journeys, and exploring the deep south.

You should avoid the late autumn months from October to mid-December. This is when the Northeast Monsoon directly hits the Gulf coast, bringing heavy rainstorms, rough seas, and frequent flooding to coastal roads and low-lying plains from Surat Thani down to Narathiwat.
