When to visit

The Caribbean side of Panama has a unique microclimate that behaves differently than the Pacific coast. The standard dry season runs from December to April. During these months, you get plenty of sunshine and strong trade winds. This weather is perfect for sailing and exploring, but the ocean can get a bit choppy.

If you want the flattest, clearest water for snorkeling, the secret is to visit in September or October. While the rest of Panama gets heavy rain during this time, the Caribbean coast—especially Bocas del Toro and the San Blas islands—experiences a mini dry season. The wind drops completely, making the ocean look like glass.
